InShadow, the screendance festival from Lisbon is back from November 20th to December 13th!

Between November 20th and December 13th, in a format adjusted to the times that we are facing, Lisbon will play its part at the 12th InShadow edition – Lisbon ScreenDance Festival, a VOARTE initiative. In a transdisciplinary atmosphere, the festival presents a diversity of genres and expressions, which manifests itself in movies, performances, installations, exhibitions and talks in different city venues: Museu da Marioneta, Teatro do Bairro, Cinemateca Portuguesa, Espaço Santa Catarina, Espaço Cultural Mercês, FNAC Chiado, Note Galeria, Alcântara Library, among other spaces, with unpredictable encounters between the cinema, dance and technology.

The Festival will begin in Museu da Marioneta on November 21st and 22nd with the LittleShadow, a section of the festival aimed to children, youth and families. This year LittleShadow will feature performances by CiM – Dance Company and the exhibition of the animated films in competition.

From November 24th to 27th, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., the INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS of DOCUMENTAY and VIDEODANCE will take place at Teatro do Bairro, with the exhibition of more than 50 films.

Still at Teatro do Bairro, on November 28th, will be exhibited in a SPECIAL SESSION the video dance In Betwwen by the Italian artist Alessandro Amaducci, celebrating his 30 years of video art and video dance, followed by the Awards Ceremony of the Nacional and International Competition.

From November 23rd to December 13th, the body and the image claim their place in various representation media, EXHIBITIONS, INSTALLATIONS. In the PERFORMANCE area will be presented Gaveta by Joana Caveiro/ Teatro do Vestido (PT) and the choreographer Ana Vitória (BR) will display a project in the scope of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, at Alcântara Library.

In early December, at Cinemateca Portuguesa, will be paid a tribute to Jorge Salavisa, a key figure in Dance, who left us this year, and had a personal relationship with InShadow. Dance will be celebrated through cinema, with the exhibition of the Documentary Keep Going, by Marco Martins, followed by a talk with guests, to share their experiences with Jorge Salavisa’s programing art.

We want to keep dance and cinema in a dialogue through these intersections, in Lisbon, in the sole festival that promotes video dance. In spite of the imposed way of the pandemic that slowed us down, resilience projects it self in the shadow, which bights our future. This edition seeks to launch us for the next 10 years.
