Ana Cunha

Originally from Sesimbra, in Lisbon since 7 years ago. I grew up in a small town where art is not a way to live, but something to do in the weekends. Ended up studying nursing and becoming a nurse, area that I quickly realized that it was not what I thought. The dehumanization associated with current healthcare systems lead me to pursue a way out, and thus I found photography. I bought my first camera on sale, combining my first two pay checks. 

For economic reasons I am still stuck as a healthcare worker, while I intend to free myself from the diminishing labels that (both at home and in my workplaces) are imposed by people who don’t understand what is to be different. I now study photography at ETIC in the mornings, and work as a nurse in the nights and afternoons.
