Tábua Rasa rises as an encounter born out of several common places of people who propose to decipher a new language, in the shape of a body, and the infinite capacities to fill it.
Tábua Rasa’s premise, from the Latin tabula rasa - a wax plank with nothing written on, served as the motto for these artists, thinkers of the movement, to join and share, based on physical discovery, artistic influences, concepts, distinctive and flexible languages.
Tábua Rasa is a collaboration between the dancers António Cabrita and São Castro, |acsc|, and the dancers Xavier Carmo and Henriett Ventura, from Companhia Nacional de Bailado (CNB), a Vo’Arte/CNB co-production.
The scenario that invokes this white and suspended space is from the set designer / architect Wilson Galvão, Nuno Nogueira designed the costumes in contrast and Victor José held the light that fills the space/time.
This partnership between the creative pairs, acsc ,CNB and other artistic team aims to break with creation logic, leading its interpreters to conquer new places and to seek a new approach in creation.
A co-production of Vo’Arte / Companhia Nacional de Bailado, structures that in this challenge support the emergence of new artistic projects and operate at the forefront of creating new choreographic languages.
The process of creation began in 2014 and after two artistic residencies at CNB studios, Tábua Rasa had its world premiere on days 21st , 22nd and 23 of May 2015 at the Teatro Camões in Lisbon. |
