We set off to the choreography of Lugar à Dança. The body is ever moving, restless.
The course is born from our gestures, we won't lower the arms to rest the legs.
We fly in this imaginary for 15 years. In Expo'98 we presented proposals in a bold and new architecture where some literally flew off Siza Vieira's Portuguese Pavilion roofing and in the walls of the Knowledge Pavilion. In Expo Park (Lisbon), we were amongst others, with Ana Figueira, Samuel Louwick, Provisional Danza, Jean Paul Bucchieri, Lilia Mestre and Felix Louzano, who filled the gaze of a delighted audience.
The body spin and travelled, throughout these 15 years, spaces and memories that directed our look. Claúdia Dias, Francisco Camacho, Alberto Magno, Peter Michael Dietz, Andrés Corchero, Carles Salas, Rafael Alvarez, Constanza Macras, Bruno Dizien, Kristyna Lhotáková, Willi Dorner, Susana Vidal, Miguel Pereira, Ninho de Víboras, Grotest Maru, António Tavares, Damián Muñoz, Brenda Angiel, Filipa Francisco, Senza Tempo, DejaDonne, Miguel Moreira, are just some of the artists that accepted different challenges in territories where sometimes dance didn't even exist.
We counted during these years with more than 300 companies and 2.000 artists, who've presented multiple projects in areas that have given a Place to Dance, totalling an audience that surpassed 120.000 people.
At a time when we continue to divert ourselves from what's superfluous, we come back to the body as universe, as life extending itself besides the ephemeral movement. We set up the 15th edition of Lugar à Dança as a choreography of multiple gestures to offer to all who want to be surprised by bodies of poetic strength.
This year we give rise to formation with different communities, to projects in artistic residency that look for a place of investigation and exhibition, and to the dialogue of the body in movement with its facing audience.
Successive paths, sights, movements, rhythms, falls, flights and changes of Place, to the Dance we give a space, time and body. We strategically transformed precise gestures to a new look and space in mutation, where continuity is a displacement of time. These are the new axes of rails to be crossed in a future Place to Dance, in constant unrest.
